AAPEastern Reporter

A HOMELESS man who grabbed a 12-year-old girl on her way to a Perth school in a sexually-motivated attack has been sentenced to 20 months in prison.

David Carlisle Beckwith, 53, was under the influence of alcohol and cannabis when he forcefully grabbed the girl’s hand on June 7 last year, but had first spotted her two days earlier, the West Australian District Court heard on Wednesday.

Beckwith, who was found guilty of deprivation of liberty, will be eligible for parole after serving 10 months.
