THIS year’s Inglewood on Beaufort Street Markets kick off on Monday, August 1 boasting about 150 stalls.

Organisers are expecting big crowds for the launch of the markets, which will run on both sides of Beaufort Street from Sixth Avenue to Dundas Road at the town clock, until the end of March.

Markets founder and butcher Vince Garreffa said crowds of up to 5000 people attended during the 2015 season.

He said the decision to hold the markets on Mondays received positive feedback from visitors.

Mr Garreffa said it was also an opportunity to exercise as well as enjoy healthy food.

“It’s a great way to get exercise, not have to cook on a Monday night, eat healthily and go for a walk,” he said.

“Up and back, both sides of the street is a comfortable kilometre stroll.”

This season will feature new stallholders including Josh Catalano from Catalano’s Seafoods, and fish aficionado Stuart Fergusson with their new food truck The Fish Boss.

Meast proprietor Sandra Bahbah will return with Middle Eastern fare such as falafel, haloumi cheese and Arabic rice made from scratch.

She said there was a huge sense of community about the markets last year.

The markets run from 6pm to 9.30pm every Monday, with headline act EC The Band to perform on opening night at the library from 7pm until 8.30pm.
