Lawley Art Auction: work of local artists to be showcased

CREATIVE Mount Lawley Senior High School students rubbed shoulders with some of WA’s renowned artists over pizza this month.

Crust Pizza Mount Lawley hosted the gathering with Inglewood artists Peter and Jillian Ciemitis.

Owner Michelle Xa Rechichi said that wanted to bring the top artists to her shop so customers could experience the artwork which will be on sale at the Lawley Art Auction on Saturday, June 18.

The auction supports students from the School’s Music and Specialist Visual and Performing Arts (SVAPA) programs.

Mr Ciemitis’ work submitted for this year’s auction is a drawing of geographer George Seddon, who was the subject of his 2007 Archibald-shortlisted painting.

Mrs Ciemitis is a multi-award winning printmaker and photographer and her screen print on offer,Dietro Il Velo, was influenced by 18th century printmaker Giovanni Battista Piranesi.

Other works at the auction will include paintings, ceramics, glass, textiles and more.

The Lawley Art Auction is a public event held at Mount Lawley Senior High School.

Viewing of the artworks, music, drinks and canapés begin at 5pm. The hammer goes down for the art auction at 7pm.
