MT HAWTHORN residents can ride their bicycle to get their tooth fillings or root canal.
After a few years of being in West Leederville, cycling enthusiast Richard Kozlowski recently relocated his practice Leederville Dental to Scarborough Beach Road and installed a bike stand and shelter out the front for customers.
“I commute to work by cycling and I want to promote this healthier way of life to my patients and the wider general public,” he said.
“It is fantastic to see that the bike paths in Mt Hawthorn and Perth are increasing in number but there also needs to be other infrastructure to support this.
“If a small business like my own can do this then just imagine with greater access to resources what larger businesses or communities could provide.”
The Bicycling WA member said he took up cycling in 2003.
“I retired from playing rugby union and took up cycling, soon after arriving in Perth,” he said.
“I have participated in lots of amateur cycling events including Cyclo Sportif, The 3 Dams, Busselton Half Iron man 2013-2015, Great Perth Bike Ride and the Freeway Bike Hike last year and previously.”
Dr Kozlowski is one of a handful of dentists in WA who has completed a postgraduate diploma in conscious sedation and pain control.
“My special interest is treating anxious dental patients using intravenous sedation,” he said.
“I am able to administer intravenous sedation so that patients can sleep during their appointment and when it is finished they have little recollection of the treatment that they have just received.”
