Leederville on to a shaw thing

Mr Bond, who owns Ria Authentic Malaysian, Foam Coffee Bar and Kitsch Bar Asia, all on Oxford Street, has started offering a Leederville Food Safari where customers are transported by rickshaw between the three venues.

‘It was a bit of a long shot at first and was just for advertising,’ Mr Bond said.

‘I got the bikes fixed up, painted them and had the sign writing done.

‘They provided a way to connect the three venues and provide a different experience for people.’

The safaris have been running for six months and Mr Bond said they had proved popular on weekends and for special events, with other local businesses hiring them out.

‘At Christmas, it was used to transport Santa,’ he said. ‘Leederville has got a little bit of that charm left in it and that is one of the drawcards of the area.

‘Everyone has been really positive. Leederville is like that; no one is against good ideas and would like to see more.’
