Man carjacked at knife point in Perth

A MAN was carjacked at knife point by robbers who fled the scene only to crash into a pole.

Police said the victim was parked at the side of the road when a man opened the driver’s door and threatened him with a knife.

A knife was held against his neck while the thief demanded his mobile phone and wallet.

The driver was punched in the face and dragged out of the car before the thief and an accomplice fled the scene in the blue Toyota Yaris.

A spokesman for police said the robbery happened at around 9pm on Summers Street.

“Perth detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Perth last night,” he said.

“The man got into the driver’s seat, another man got in the front passenger seat and they left the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

“The same vehicle was involved in a traffic crash near the intersection of Great Eastern Highway Bypass and Roe Highway Midvale around 5.50am this morning.

“The driver and a passenger were seen leaving the scene before police arrived.”

The first man is described as having a thin build, and was about 183cm tall with a beard and moustache. He was wearing a grey beanie, light jacket and dark long pants. The second man was wearing a dark top.
