Man charged with theft, traffic offences

Greig JohnstonEastern Reporter

POLICE have charged a 36-year-old man from Sawyers Valley with a series of traffic offences after incidents in Ascot and Perth on Tuesday.

Officers were travelling along Great Eastern Highway in Ascot about 9.50am when their Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras alerted them to a black Holden Commodore ute with stolen number plates.

The officers tried to stop the ute, but the driver allegedly failed to stop and police aborted their attempt.

But the vehicle was monitored by police in an unmarked vehicle as it dropped to within the speed limit and travelled to Perth.
