Ms Venter said she was inspired to work in the construction industry by watching the passion and dedication family members had for the work.

She said men in the industry were very supportive.

The single mum, who has her helicopter licence, also designs house for people with quadriplegia in her spare time.

“Being able to help build homes to give people freedom and independence, with involvement from their family, and to see someone be able to use their home after being involved in the build, that’s really lovely,” Ms Venter said.

Judges said that Ms Venter demonstrated a genuine approach to business, career success, mentoring and creating a pathway for women in the industry and a true and dedicated commitment to her passions outside of the workplace.

NAWIC director Miriam D’Souza said the awards celebrated rising female stars and recognised leaders across the construction and property

“Ultimately our goal is to help create a sustainable and successful pipeline of women entering into construction, who have the opportunity to lead, learn and collaborate.”
