Miss Maud issues recall of baking products

MISS Maud has issued a recall of 16 bakery products because they may contain metal fragments.

Among the products the company has recalled are:

1. “Flying Dutchman” (biscuits) 220g in clear plastic bag with red and gold decoration.

Unpackaged products:

2. Blueberry Muffin approx 150g
3. Date and Bran Muffin approx 170g
4. Chocolate Chip Muffin approx 155g
5. Apple Cinnamon Muffin approx 160g
6. Party Chocolate Chip Muffins approx 50g
7. Party Blueberry Muffins approx 50g
8. Party Date and Bran Muffins approx 50g
9. Savoury Bacon and Cheese Muffins approx 70g
10. Savoury Pumpkin Muffins approx 70g
11. Eclairs approx 150g
12. Party Eclairs approx 20g
13. Profiteroles approx 20g
14. Mazarins approx 90g
15. Apple Crumble Tarts approx 215g
16. Patisserie Tray approx 300g

The Flying Dutchman biscuits affected have a best before date between the 6/9/2018 and 15/9/2018.

For all the other products you should return them if purchased on or before 23/05/2018.

Consumers should not eat these products and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Maud Edmiston, managing director of the popular hospitality group which has operated in Perth for 47 years, said the first step was to immediately remove products from store shelves before issuing the recall.

Ms Edmiston said one of her regular customers had advised Miss Maud of the problem.

“Once alerted the company’s Food Technical Manager immediately went through the audited processes of the bakehouse to investigate and resolve the issue,” she said.

“Following a thorough investigation, it was found that an internal part of a mixing machine in our bakehouse was faulty.

“As this machine had been used for various products, as a safety precaution we have recalled all of these products.  To date, no further metal has been reported.

“I am very sorry this has happened. Anything that impacts on the pleasure and wellbeing of our customers is of the greatest concern to us all at Miss Maud.”
