MT HAWTHORN-based Repair Cafe Perth is celebrating a year of clever handiwork.

Over 741 broken items have been brought to events by visitors, with 452 leaving completely repaired with assistance from a volunteer expert.

The broken wares have included furniture, clothing, bikes, laptops and more.

Repair Cafe Perth co-organiser Angie Kings-Lynne said a total of 60 items were brought along for the one year celebrations on Saturday.

“Lots of happy people went home with repaired things,” she said.

“[Perth MLA] John Carey and [City of Vincent mayor] Emma Cole gave great speeches, and Lawley’s Bakery and Cafe donated a massive birthday cake.”

Ms Kings-Lynne also said one particularly happy visitor left with a fixed musical box after having given up hope it would ever be repaired.

The Repair Cafe Perth is set to continue running its monthly repair sessions into 2019 and beyond.
