BLOGGER Katerina Deric will judge pampered pooches as part of the Mt Hawthorn Streets and Lanes Festival Dog Show on Sunday.

The Styled By Bella boutique owner will judge the best dressed, ugliest and cutest dog categories along with Perth MLA John Carey.

“John Carey’s dog show is an institution,” Ms Deric said.

“I think the crowd’s reaction is important, so I urge the local community to come down and assist… it is quite a bit of pressure naming the cutest dog of Mt Hawthorn.

“Across the four categories, I’m most interested in the ‘best dressed’ for obvious reasons.

“I love dogs, and I love the community of Mt Hawthorn, so proud to be part of it all.”

Mr Carey, who will have his dog Chewie with him on the day, said he was excited to bring the former Beaufort Street Festival event to Mt Hawthorn.

“The competition is so much fun; we are expecting about 100 dogs to enter,” he said.

The street festival, organised by the Mt Hawthorn Hub, will include pop-up attractions and alfresco offerings from local traders and venues will spill into the surrounding alleys and lanes of the neighbourhood.

Mt Hawthorn Hub chairman Graham Congdon said this year’s festival had a strong family focus.

“The 2016 festival transformed Mt Hawthorn into an urban playground offering a fun, free, family day out, reflective of the strong neighbourly culture,” he said.

As well as judging the dog show, Ms Deric will have her own ‘Bella’s’ roaming the festival handing out special vouchers.

The dog show will be held on the main stage on the corner of Scarborough Beach Road and Flinders Street at 4pm.
