THE inaugural event attracted more than 35,000 people, and this year organisers are expecting another bumper crowd at the Mt Hawthorn Streets and Laneways Festival.

Sponsored by Guardian Express and presented by the Mt Hawthorn Hub, the festival will return on May 1.

The boutique village-style street festival will take over the laneways of Mt Hawthorn from 11am to 7pm with food, live music, market stalls and pop-up bars.

City of Vincent Mayor John Carey said the event celebrates the unique community and diversity of the suburb.

“The locals of Mt Hawthorn came together last year to put on an awesome street festival which gave a great taste of everything unique about this neighbourhood, and are looking forward to another great event on May 1,” Mr Carey said.

Key locations on the day will be along Scarborough Beach Road incorporating landmarks like the New Norcia Bakery and the Paddington Ale House, along with hidden-alley gems like Neighbourhood Pizza and the Jazz Cellar.
