DETAILS are still scarce about a $4 million upgrade to Mt Lawley High School.

Premier Mark McGowan and Education Minister Sue Ellery visited the school last week after handing down the State Budget, which included funding for the school.

Ms Ellery said the money was for a “refurbishment” but did not reveal more.

“It is a school that has got a big population so they really want that $4 million and are pleased that we are able to offer it,” she said.

“We also think we are going to take the population pressure off Mt Lawley when we build the new school at Kitchener Park.”

Mt Lawley MLA Simon Millman said the school’s specialist design and technology and science programs would thrive with the upgrade of specialist facilities.

Upgrades at the 62-year-old school will begin in 2019 and expected to be completed in 2020.
