Mt Lawley man fined $1200 for speeding in a school zone

A Mt Lawley man has been hit with a $1200 fine and the loss of seven demerit points after being caught speeding in a school zone on Tuesday morning.

The infringement occurred on Beaufort Street in Mt Lawley, near Lawley Crescent, just after 8.30am.

The 28-year-old man was caught doing 84km/h in a 40km/h zone.

He told officers he was late for work.
