Mt Lawley MLA urging residents to shop local this Christmas

Jessica WarrinerEastern Reporter

MT LAWLEY MLA Simon Millman is urging residents to shop local this Christmas.

He said with vacancy rates along Beaufort Street north of 12 per cent, it was more important than ever to support neighbourhood businesses.

“These owners are people with families of their own, looking to their December sales to determine how good their own festive seasons will be,” he said.

“With the WA economy stabilising, this is an opportunity to send these great local businesses into 2019 with a really positive outlook.”

Elroy owner Nick Sheppard said shopping locally was a rational choice.

“If you’re buying clothing, you really want to see how you look in it before you buy,” he said.

“No online service can provide the same assurance about comfort, fit and style that you get from buying in-store.”
