A LOCAL TAFE graduate has been awarded Australian Vocational Student of the Year.

Caitlan Noble completed her Bachelor of Commerce at university before beginning in administration at Princess Margaret Hospital, which sparked her interest in helping people.

Ms Noble decided to study Anaesthetic Technology at North Metropolitan TAFE’s Mt Lawley campus, and secured a role as an anaesthetic technician at King Edward Memorial Hospital before graduation.

“I um-ed and ah-ed for almost two years over doing this course and I wish I’d done it sooner,” she said.

“It was life-changing, it’s really put me towards a career I hadn’t considered and now I couldn’t see myself doing anything different.”

TAFE lecturer Andrea Reville said her former student would be a fantastic ambassador for the sector.

Ms Noble was presented her award at the Australian Training Awards on Thursday in Sydney.
