Murder-accused faces court over WA fire

A MAN has appeared in court charged with murder after he allegedly set fire to a backpackers hostel.

A 39-year-old man charged with murder has faced court accused of starting a fire at a backpackers hostel in East Perth, killing a woman.

Mother-of-three Tammee Lee Jones, 44, died in the fire in December.

Reuben David Lambie, who was also a resident at the hostel, faced Perth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with her murder, criminal damage by fire, and five counts of endangering the life of a person.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates’ Court next month.
