The NHDS treats people for a wide array of acute, episodic illnesses with a bulk-billing general practitioner who will visit patients in their homes.

Recent research by the service has revealed the top 10 reasons for after hours enquiries:

  1. Acute respiratory infections
  2. Asthma
  3. Skin infections and rashes
  4. Urinary tract infections
  5. Gastro
  6. Eye complaints
  7. Sprains, strains, neck, back and hip pain
  8. Ailments associated with age
  9. Migraine and acute headache
  10. Ear Ache

While these are the top reasons patients call 13SICK (13 74 25), there are many other ailments that can be diagnosed and treated by a visiting home doctor.

NHDS doctors are on the road from 6pm weeknights, 12pm Saturdays and all day Sunday and public holidays.
