Councillors originally planned to install a new water playground, like the popular Hyde Park facility established in 2011, in the Mt Hawthorn, North Perth and Leederville areas.
But at the last council meeting they decided that the costs for constructing, installing and maintaining the facility were too high.
Catering to the 10-plus age group, the park proposal is a response to demand from Mt Hawthorn Primary School for a nearby inter-active playground space.
Cr Emma Cole said that despite the popularity of the Hyde Park water feature and her own personal fondness for it, she supported the rejection of a second instalment of its kind.
