Manager Rebecca Smith said rebranding aimed to provide better clarity of the services the Northbridge-based organisation provided to the public.

‘Over the years, our purpose has shifted to focus on capacity building, with the public often left confused about what it is we actually do,’ she said.

‘The terminology ‘family planning’ is also very outdated and not in line with the image we want to present of a current and relevant organisation.

‘In an attempt to resolve any confusion, and allow us to better convey to the community what the organisation is all about, we have decided to change our name.’

Ms Smith said the organisation’s name aligned more closely with its vision and purpose, to build and sustain capacity in the community and to enhance sexual and reproductive wellbeing for all West Australians.

‘Sexual and reproductive health services are at the core of what we do,’ she said.

‘The main areas we see people for include sexually transmissible infections testing and treatment, contraception, Pap smears, unplanned pregnancy information, relationships and sexuality issues.’

Ms Smith said the change would not affect any of the services provided.
