PERTH City Council’s new Deputy Mayor says he wants to increase safety, make the city people-friendly and create an “inclusive” city.
Councillors voted for James Limnios 7-2 over former mayoral candidate Reece Harley at a special council meeting last month.
Cr Limnios, a property developer who has been a councillor since 2009, said he was “honestly proud, honoured and thrilled” to be elected by colleagues.
“I want to look after and promote small to medium businesses,” he said.
In a statement, Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi congratulated Cr Limnios and said former deputy mayor and outgoing councillor Rob Butler made a “significant and lasting contribution” to the City.
“Cr Limnios’ five years experience as a City of Perth councillor will hold him in good stead as deputy,” Ms Scaffidi said.
