NORTH Perth Post Office customers have been left in limbo after the franchise shut its doors unexpectedly at 5pm last Friday.
An Australia Post spokeswoman said the franchise ceased trading at short notice due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
“While we work to restore services at the Post office, we have organised some temporary arrangements,” she said.
“We would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding while we work to quickly reinstate services, and will provide updates as we progress.”
From Tuesday, customers have been able to collect all PO Box mail at the Mount Lawley Post office along Beaufort Street.
“If a PO Box customer chooses to relocate their PO Box, we are offering a free six-month redirection to the new address,” the spokeswoman said.
All street delivery items carded after March 1 will be available for collection at the Osborne Park Business Hub.
Items carded before March 1 are secured in the North Perth Post Office.
“Australia Post are working with authorities to gain access,” the spokeswoman said.
“We will provide updates to customers on how and when to collect their items as soon as details are confirmed.”
Customers will need to present photo identification to collect their PO Box and carded mail.
