Park is perfect city hyde-away

Jean-Louis Diaz said he came up with the idea for his latest exhibit Urban Sanctum last year while walking through Hyde Park in the winter.

‘At that stage I hadn’t thought about the theme of the exhibit,’ he said.

‘I always make sure when I visit cities in the world I always want to be near a park or somewhere quite relaxing, so I did have quite a few shots already from Paris and Hanoi.

‘One thing led to another and the title came through: Urban Sanctum.‘

The former fine arts teacher said the Hyde Park painting was the catalyst piece in the exhibit and captured the image of Perth’s best park.

Urban Sanctum is on at the Harvison Gallery from May 6-31.
