OVERSEAS and regional visitors have injected more than $150 million into the WA economy while travelling to see an event at Perth Arena in the last three years.

Sport and Recreation Minister Mia Davies released the figures to coincide with the third anniversary of the venue.

She said research figures from Repucom showed that 278,000 people had visited Perth from regional WA, interstate or overseas to see a show at Perth Arena.

“13 per cent of the total Perth Arena attendees are visitors to Perth, which is an average of over 1000 people per event,” she said.

“Certain events such as Bon Jovi attract as high as 30 per cent of the crowd from outside Western Australia.”

Ms Davies also said half of the interstate and overseas visitors that came to WA for a Perth Arena show went on to visit parts of regional WA.

More than 65,000 people from regional WA attend Perth Arena shows each year, she said.

Upcoming events at Perth Arena include Cold Chisel, Neil Diamond, Oprah and Hugh Jackman.
