PERTH College’s Year 12 boarders have secured themselves a spot in WA sport history by playing in the fourth women’s game at Optus Stadium.

The team played against Santa Maria College on June 21 ahead of the West Coast Eagles and Bombers game.

Former West Coast Eagles player Adam Selwood led the boarders in a training session on June 18 to refine their skills and prepare them for the match.

Perth College sport teacher Courtney Stubbs said interest in women’s football had “grown rapidly” at the school.

“The girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience and appreciated being able to learn from such a professional,” she said.

“This is a great opportunity to strengthen the club’s relationship with local and boarding communities as well as providing more opportunities for the next wave of potential athletes to develop a love for the game.”
