PERTH Labor candidate John Carey’s Halloween party campaign fundraiser scared up $15,000.

The City of Vincent mayor, who is running for the seat in the next State election in March, 2017, said the event held at the The Old Pickle Factory in West Perth on October 29 sold out.

“We had 300 people, which was our capacity,” he said.

“We raised $15,000 from tickets being $55 each; the money goes to the WA Labor Party campaign.

“Whenever the money is spent on me by the party I have to disclose it but I do not have control of the funding.”

Mr Carey said if circumstances changed and he was no longer running for the seat of Perth, the money raised would be spent on the next Labor candidate.

He said the Halloween spirit continued through the City of Vincent on October 31, with about 1300 people passing through the spookily decorated Buxton St, Mount Hawthorn.

“It was good fun and a sense of community; parents and kids dressed up,” he said.
