DONALD James Ranger (34) will face Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on February 28 on charges of setting fire to the Perth Train Station building this week.

Police charged Mr Ranger with criminal damage, burglary and destruction of property after he allegedly set fire to the building about 3am on February 21, causing $500,000 damage.

Transit officers at the scene arrested Mr Ranger after he broke into the building through a glass door and set documents on fire.

It is also alleged he was captured on CCTV minutes earlier setting several bins on fire in the Perth Cultural Centre.

Police questioned Mr Rangers yesterday afternoon after he received medical treatment and faced Perth Magistrates Court today.

He was remanded in custody and will face court again later this month.
