A 31-year-old Perth man has been charged with possessing child exploitation material.
The man’s arrest came after federal police received a tip-off from the US non-profit National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
In March, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) received information from the NCMEC about an online user allegedly uploading child exploitation material.
The AFP started an investigation and identified the Perth man as the alleged user of the online account.
On July 24 officers from the Western Australia Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team executed a search warrant at a home in Highgate.
Police seized a hard drive allegedly containing child exploitation material, several other devices, a small quantity of methamphetamine and two glass pipes.
The man was charged with possessing child exploitation material, possessing methylamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
