Perth: man jailed for ‘sickening’ child images

AAPEastern Reporter

A 23-year-old man who possessed some of the worst child exploitation material a Perth judge has seen has been jailed for four years.

Ciaran Michael Donnelly was convicted in the District Court of Western Australia on multiple counts of soliciting, accessing, possessing and transmitting the material using a carriage service, with the court hearing it was for his own sexual gratification.

It covered all categories and the victims included infants.

The court also heard Donnelly pretended to be a teenager, making it easier for him to attract and communicate with young girls.

“It is disgusting and sickening what I was asked to look at as a sample of the material you had,” Judge Simon Stone said during sentencing on Tuesday.

“It is among the worst stuff I’ve had to look at.”

Donnelly will be eligible for parole when he has served two years behind bars.
