Perth's A21 Walk For Freedom took place on the weekend.

MORE than 400 people gathered in Perth on October 20 to help stop human trafficking.

The event was one of hundreds around the world organised by Australian-based anti-human trafficking organisation A21.

Organiser Lisa Olsson said Perth’s Walk For Freedom was two months in the making.

“We want to bring awareness to the fact that millions of people are being used as slaves around the world,” she said.

“Australia has also been pointed out by the United Nations as a receiver country of victims of human trafficking that falls in the ‘high destination category’.”

Ms Olsson said it was powerful to see so many people turn out on the weekend.

“We will organise Walk For Freedom on October 19 again next year and we would love for many more people to join us in the this important cause,” she said.
