Perth Police investigating drunken one-punch Northbridge attack

Perth Police are investigating a drunken, unprovoked, one-punch assault on a Northbridge street that landed a man in hospital at the weekend (Saturday, July 28).

About 9.30pm, the 28-year-old victim and another man were waiting at a pedestrian crossing on the corner of Newcastle and William Streets.

A group of intoxicated men were on the other side of the crossing.

The group crossed the intersection on a red light and walked towards the two men.

As the group walked past them one of the group punched one of the men in the head.

The group continued walking along Newcastle Street.

The victim was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he received sutures for a 4cm gash above his eye.

The offender was described as having an olive complexion, short black hair and a beard. He was wearing a green flannelette shirt, blue denim jeans and dark coloured shoes.

Detectives would like to speak to the man pictured who they believe can assist with inquiries into this incident.
