Perth: Public Transport Authority preparing for busiest day on the calendar

Jessica WarrinerEastern Reporter

WITH Australia Day the busiest day on Perth’s public transport calendar, extra buses, trains and ferries are on hand to move thousands of revellers around the city.

Transperth spokesman David Hynes today stressed the importance of passengers planning their journey to and from events like the City of Perth Skyworks.

“As always, we will be running extra train, bus and ferry services and will have lots of extra staff on hand to help our passengers get to their celebrations,” he said.

Crowds on the busy Mandurah and Joondalup lines will be split, with Joondalup passengers directed to Perth Underground and Mandurah passengers to Elizabeth Quay Station.

Midland, Armadale, Thornlie and Fremantle passengers should go to Perth Station.

Ferry services will operate until 12pm on a Saturday timetable, and there will be additional buses with some deviations in place because of road closures in the CBD, South Perth and Kings Park.
