Perth suburb to get ‘visionary’ aged care facility

Laura PondEastern Reporter

A $40 MILLION “visionary” aged care development is being built in Inglewood.

The Metro North-West Development Assessment Panel recently approved Brightwater Care Group’s plans for the facility and office on Walter Road West, opposite Mt Lawley Golf Club.

The development is adjacent to its existing dementia-specific nursing home, The Village, which caters for 64 people.

Brightwater’s proposal said the three-storey building would comprise a residential aged care (RAC) facility and the group’s head office, with 107 parking bays.

“In a visionary move the new two level, 128-bed RAC and the 150 workplace office will be combined both physically and culturally, ensuring the new building provides its occupants with the means, knowledge and opportunity to achieve their goals and enjoy life’s possibilities,” it said.

The facility will include a sensory landscaping and a ‘garden in the sky’ for residents, as well as a salon, physiotherapy services, gym and clinical hub.

It came after the City of Stirling approved its local development plan for the site in January 2019, which proposed a “world class, community orientated intergenerational care facility”.
