PERTH has suffered its coldest morning of the year as overnight temperatures plummeted.

The city reached a low of 3.8 degrees just after 6am this morning, beating the previous low of 4.8 degrees recorded earlier in June.

It was even colder in Jandakot, which reached 3.3 degrees at 5am, while Perth Airport fell to 3.9 degrees at 6.30am.

It was the coldest morning recorded in Perth since August last year, when temperatures fell to as low as 1.7 degrees.

The good news is rain is expected to stay away for the weekend, with partly cloudy but mostly fine days expected today, Saturday and Sunday.
