Perth weather: happiness is a warm New Year’s long weekend

PERTH is set for a warm but partly cloudy New Year period, with a very slight chance of rain on New Year’s Eve.

Forecasts for the New Year long weekend say Perth will reach a high of 33C on each day of the break.

Temperatures will slowly head up after a forecast high of 26C today, with Thursday set for a sunny day and a top of 29C and Friday also sunny and heading for 32C.

Saturday will be partly cloudy with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting a 20 per cent chance of rain in Perth’s eastern suburbs, with a top of 33C for the city.

The chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the east increases on New Year’s Eve to 30 per cent, while New Year’s Day will be clear and sunny.

The UV Index is predicted to reach 13 (Extreme) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

In Mandurah, temperatures are forecast to be slightly milder with just a slight chance of a shower on Saturday and Sunday.

After a sunny 27C on Thursday, Mandurah can expect temperatures of 29C on Friday, 30C on Saturday, 30C on New Year’s Eve and 29C on New Year’s Day.
