‘Plan ahead for the day: plan for the weather, plan your food and drink, be aware of where the drinking and non-drinking areas are, and plan to get home, there will be long delays on public transport.’

Insp Parkin said licensed premises would close at usual times on Sunday and officers would give $200 on-the-spot fines to people drinking outside of designated BYO areas.

BYO picnic zones will be available at the Langley Park reserve and an area of Kings Park from 6.30pm to 8.45pm, with over-18s allowed to bring either one six-pack or pre-mix drinks or one bottle of wine per adult.
