Police investigate sexual assault in Leederville

POLICE are investigating a sexual assault early this morning in the Leederville/Wembley area.

About 1.30am this morning the 18-year-old victim became separated from a friend near the intersection of Leederville Parade and Loftus Street, in Leederville.

Despite efforts to find her she could not be located.

About 4:30am the victim walked into a service station at the intersection of Harborne Street and Cambridge Street, in Wembley, where she contacted family.

The victim has since disclosed she had been sexually assaulted while she was walking.

The exact time and location of the incident is still being established.

The suspect is described as being fair skinned, 35 to 40 years old, tall, and of skinny build.

He was wearing a jumper or long sleeved shirt and dark long pants.

It is believed the woman screamed at the offender during the assault.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who saw a woman walking alone, or a man acting suspiciously, between the two locations above, or anyone in that area who heard a woman scream between 1:30am and 4:30am this morning.
