“We seized about 415 packets of psychoactive substances with a retail value of about $25,000,” Senior Sergeant Craig Davis said.

The raids also netted 20 packets of what is alleged to be magic mushrooms.

Use of synthetic drugs is known to cause anything from a mild headache and no high, to potential psychotic behaviour if used repeatedly.

However, because the active ingredients can be changed in a laboratory they are difficult to list on the state’s drug schedule.

Sgt Davis said no charges had yet been laid from the raids.

He said the drugs would be analysed, which could take up to six months, but the packaging indicated they were prohibited substances.
