POLICE are investigating a robbery incident after a group of girls attacked a woman in Northbridge last weekend.

Around 11:30pm on Saturday, the 21-year-old victim was waiting at a taxi rank along Melbourne Street near the Roe Street intersection, when she was approached by the group.

The girls asked for a cigarette and when the victim refused, the group attacked her, allegedly striking her several times to the face before stealing her handbag and running away.

The victim attempted to recover her handbag from the girls, but she was attacked a second time and the group ran away towards Perth Train Station.
