Pride: Perth White Pointers move from pool to parade

Jessica WarrinerEastern Reporter

THE PERTH White Pointers are jumping out of the pool to join this Saturday’s Pride parade.

Treasurer Pete Steel said it will be the water polo club’s second march since forming at the end of 2016.

The Pointers’ primary goal is to promote LGBTI inclusion in water polo and sport in general in WA.

“Historically the sporting field has been a pretty unwelcoming place to LGBTI people, and Pride is an opportunity for our community to reflect on how far we’ve come and celebrate our achievements together,” he said.

“This year we’ll have a full float with all the bells and whistles with a water polo theme, and our players will be in their official team uniforms – speedos (and glitter of course).”

Around 30 members of the Perth White Pointers will march on the night.

The 2018 Pride parade kicks off at 8pm on Saturday, November 24, in Northbridge.
