Rate rise above CPI put forward

Staff ReporterEastern Reporter

The City of Perth has traditionally restricted its average rate increase to CPI, except for the past three years when modest increases above CPI were approved to fund intensive capital works.

A report to council says an overall rate in the dollar increase is needed due to the current reduction in ratebase growth and minimum rates, the lowest in metropolitan Perth, should be increased by $30 in 2014-15.

Perth currently has the lowest minimum rate in the metropolitan area of $624.
