Rotary Club of Perth name Hirsch as new president

LARRY Hirsch is the new Rotary Club of Perth president.

The Hillarys businessman was sworn in June and took over from construction cost consultant Graham Peden.

Mr Hirsch has been a member of the Club for 22 years, joining soon after migrating to Perth from Johannesburg, South Africa with his family in 1994.

“Under Graham’s stewardship the club has continued to pioneer and grow some outstanding community projects; in WA and overseas,” said Mr Hirsch

“Our Path of Hope campaign against domestic violence, our support for finding a vaccine for mesothelioma, providing accommodation for Perth’s homeless youth and our sponsorship of the Kimberley Dental Team are just some of these inspiring initiatives.

“My aim will be to harness even more community support for these projects and to take on new challenges which will motivate many of the younger members being attracted to Rotary.

“With WA facing tough economic times, funding for community services provided by government departments and charitable organisation has been seriously affected.”
