ROYAL Perth Hospital’s (RPH) former trainee nurses will be celebrating a school reunion like no other this year.
RPH Ex-Trainees & Associates is celebrating their 80th anniversary in September.
President Jan Outtrim-Keegan said the group started in 1936 to help nurses who trained at RPH to “maintain contact and fellowship”.

READ NOW“This was 40 years from when the first nurse was accepted for nurse training at The Perth (Public) Hospital in 1896,” she said.
“With the change to university-trained nurses, our last RPH graduate was in 1975.”
Ms Outtrim-Keegan said that each decade the Ex-Trainees had celebrated with a special dinner.
“There have been amazing responses and, although our numbers decrease with each celebration, there is always great anticipation and enthusiasm of renewing contact from such an amazing part of our lives.”
The most senior member of the group is 101 years old and several members are in their 90s.
The youngest is 60.
“Many of our colleagues have attended the 50th, 60th, and 70th RPH Ex-Trainees Gala Dinners and now look forward to the 80th. We are having a GALA 80th Anniversary Luncheon in the Grand Ballroom at Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough on September 3rd.”
