SALTED Magazine launched to promote and inspire female entrepeneurs

FOLLOWING the closures of publications around Perth, Mt Hawthorn resident Nikki Milne decided to take matters into her own hands and start her own.

Launched at a glitzy event held at C Restaurant on Sunday, SALTED is a quarterly magazine promoting and inspiring WA female entrepreneurs in creative industries.

Ms Milne, a former hairdresser said she decided to give up her Subiaco hair salon two years ago due to the arrival of her first child and started up a social media platform The Perth Collective where creatives could come together, share ideas and collaborate.

SALTED is celebration of entrepreneurship, social media, and creativity and the way they bring us together,” she said.

“The concept came as an extension of The Perth Collective (TPC), which has an Instagram account of 58,000 followers and daily features WA female owned, creative and retail businesses for free, creating invaluable exposure and support for those featured.

“I saw the opportunity to build off TPC’s social media platform via an e-magazine and as I start to explore the idea, two ex-Scoop magazine staff connected with me; the rest is history.

“It’s taken us three months, thousands of hours to bring the reader around 100 small business editorials and interviews in this first edition.

The free 68-page e-magazine, self-funded by the mother-of-two, has been put together by locals and features photo-shoots and profiles from Perth entrepreneurs with a cover shot by fashion photographer Stef King.

The next issue is set to be published in November.
