SAT backs City of Vincent in rejection of Mt Hawthorn carport approval

Julian WrightEastern Reporter

THE State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) has backed City of Vincent in refusing retrospective approval for a Sasse Avenue, Mt Hawthorn property carport.

The City made its determination on the “non-compliant” $1300 carport in November 2015, so property owner Shayne Jones took it to SAT in July 2016.

An on-site mediation between parties on August 29, 2016 was unsuccessful so SAT ordered documentation be submitted so it could make a decision.

SAT determined the carport, constructed from metal sheeting, did not “harmonise” with the streetscape and would not be consistent with orderly and proper planning, and dismissed the application for review.
