The North Perth markets are celebrating their anniversary on June 28 with an extended market day and a range of cakes and fresh produce for sale.

The festivities will also include entertainment and family activities such as live music, face painting, a roving fairy and bouncy castle.

Started last year by the Kyilla Primary School parents and citizens council, the markets have become a regular Saturday morning fixture at the local oval.

Parent Cherie Hardingham-Braid said the markets have continued the initial vision to provide fresh produce from local growers, as well as being a meeting place for residents.

‘If you come down on a Saturday morning, you will hear people on a first name basis with the growers and producers, talking about how the week was and what are the freshest, tastiest buys of the day,’ she said.
