The delegation was in Perth to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Kagoshima City and the City of Perth.

Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said Kagoshima City was Perth’s first and oldest sister city friendship.

‘We’re always touched by the level of warmth, affection and hospitality Kagoshima City and its people show us and we wish to do the same in return,’ Ms Scaffidi said.

Then-Kagoshima City Mayor Toshio Sueyoshi and the City of Perth Lord Mayor Ernest Lee-Steere signed the Kagoshima Sister City Agreement on April 23, 1974.

The 2014 delegation, led by Mayor Hiroyuki Mori, visited the Whipper Snapper Distillery and looked at investment and export potential at the East Perth facility.

A commemorative label bottle was presented to the delegation at the distillery.
