State Government approves extended trading hours for WA Day

Ben SmithEastern Reporter

THE upcoming long weekend has just got even better after the State Government approved extended trading hours on Western Australia Day.

General retail stores in metropolitan Perth have been given the go ahead to operate for an extra four hours on June 3, as well as the Queen’s Birthday public holiday in September.

The extension to permitted opening times means these shops will be able to trade any time from 8am-6pm on the two public holidays.

Regulated trading hours for public holiday Mondays are usually 11am-5pm, however the Minister for Commerce has the power to vary public holiday general retail trading hours in the Perth metropolitan area, with the exception of Christmas Day, Good Friday and ANZAC Day.
