CITY of Stirling Returned and Services League (RSL) clubs will receive a funding boost for “ever increasing audiences” at Anzac Day Ceremonies.

The funding will be increased from $1500 to $2000 a year.

Councillor Terry Tyzack presented an alternative recommendation to increase annual funding for all RSL clubs in the 2016-17 budget.

Cr Tyzack said many RSL clubs were unable to cope with the extra parking and signage required for more people.

“To RSL clubs, even $500 is a significant amount of money,” he said.

“There is an ever increasing attendance at Anzac Day ceremonies each year.”

Councillors supported Cr Elizabeth Re’s motion to install a new memorial plaque in Stirling Civic Gardens to commemorate RSL clubs within the City.

Council officers estimated the new plaque would cost $2000.
