Students step out |in support of event

ARANMORE Catholic Primary School students set off from Britannia Oval to their school as part of National Walk Safely to School Day last Friday.

The community initiative aims to raise awareness of the health, road safety, transport and environmental benefits that regular walking can provide for children.

Pedestrian Council of Australia chief executive Harold Scruby said unless teachers, parents, carers and the community got behind the event and its objectives, the outlook for Australias children was not good.

Children require at least 60 minutes per day of physical activity and regular walking is the best exercise for all of us, Mr Scruby said.
